Like Parmesan, Grana Padano is a hard cheese made from cow's milk. Parmesan, however, may only be made in Parma.
Grana Padano refers to “Grana” (grains of ground cheese) and “Padano” refers to the Po Valley where this delicious cheese comes from.
The name ‘Grana Padano’ is therefore a protected name (PDO : Protected Designation of Origin).
Grana Padano is naturally lactose-free thanks to the production process.
